Site work starts from a developed field. Access roads, water handling, electric distribution and a staffed operating yard are in daily use in the immediate area.
The Barber Creek 230 kV substation is 1.5 miles out and the Barber Creek operating yard 1.3 miles. Two third-party gathering headers, Western Midstream’s Bighorn system and Fort Union Gas Gathering, meet 1.5 miles from the Energy Park, and either can move gas out of the position or bring gas in. Pronghorn’s own gas and water gathering runs to within 2.8 miles, so the fuel tie is a short in-field lateral across ground the company already holds easements over.
The first year of a greenfield campus goes into cutting road, running distribution, establishing water handling and standing up a crew. That work is largely done here, out of about $3.2 billion invested in this field to date, predominantly by predecessor operators.

Pronghorn controls the surface through its existing leasehold, 98% of it held by production, and holds 1,200-plus acres outright and development-ready. Survey and geotechnical work can start without assembling a land position or negotiating with an unrelated surface owner first.
The site lies in unincorporated Campbell County territory with no zoning overlay and no residential setback conflict. Surrounding land use is wells, compression and coal. The county has permitted industrial energy development continuously for four decades.

One site, three ways into the grid. The Energy Park is the site. Pumpkin Buttes, Barber Creek and Carr Draw are 230 kV substations reachable from it. About 300 MW is known available at Pumpkin Buttes, with further capacity at Barber Creek and Carr Draw indicated and not yet confirmed.
Moving people and equipment
Interstate 90 carries the heavy-haul traffic for the regional coal mines and the Dry Fork and Wyodak generating stations. The route from the interstate into the field is already rated and traveled for turbine-scale loads.
A load profile is enough to begin.
